The Creative Commissions for Climate Action programme commissions innovative, interdisciplinary collaborations that harness art, science and technologies to raise awareness of, and increase public engagement in, the climate emergency and biodiversity loss.

The commissions bring together artists, scientists, communities and digital innovators from the UK and around the world to connect and collaborate on creative responses to the climate emergency.

The resulting works aim to stimulate global conversations around the climate emergency and inspire transformational change.

Engagement with COPs

In the lead-up to the United Nations Climate Chance Conferences of Parties (COP26 and COP27, hosted in Glasgow, UK in 2021 and Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt in 2022 respectively), we funded two series of Creative Commissions for Climate Action. These were widely represented at the COP events and were showcased around the world.

Since 2021, we have funded over 40 Creative Commissions, each a unique project that addressed different climate challenges and worked with different lived experiences, from rising sea levels and deforestation to plastic waste, consumption, and our carbon footprint.

You can explore some of our Creative Commissions below.
