Residency Opportunity at Milan Design Week 2025

Open call for UK-based designers to take up residence in April 2025 at Milan Design Week. 

In collaboration with cultural centre BASE, we are launching an open call for one emerging UK-based designer to complete a design residency and showcase at BASE in the centre of Milan during Design Week 2025. 

This year the theme of the residency is ‘Making Kinships' - as an intentional and creative act, moving beyond biological connections to build meaningful relationships among humans, non-human beings, and more-than-human entities.

The selected designer will receive:

• A special exhibition room for Design Week 2025 (7 - 13 April)
• Accommodation for the period 3 - 14 April 2025
• Technical assistance - and design assistance for collaborative projects - from BASE team throughout the collaboration period
• Communications plan and visibility on BASE digital channels
• A budget of € 5,100 including:
  Designer project fee
  Perdiems during residency
  Materials budget
  Travel costs

This design residency is part of the British Council Circular Cultures programme and BASE Milano's WE WILL DESIGN public programme during Milan Design Week.
