New Landscapes is an international programme and catalyst grant scheme in partnership with University of Arts London's (UAL) Fashion, Textiles and Technology Institute (FTTI).
Since 2021, the programme has nurtured new Research and Development (R&D) projects between SME partners (small and medium enterprises) in the UK and 10 other countries, including Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia and Nigeria.
These collaborative projects support new ideas shaping the future of sustainable fashion, textiles and technology. Throughout the programme, UAL FTTI provide grantees with mentoring from their staff and expert academics, as well as offering unique showcasing opportunities.
In 2025 the six project teams will be invited to apply for a further round of accelerator funding.
New Landscapes India
Launched in 2023, the New Landscapes India R&D grant scheme is a three-year programme supporting new collaborations in sustainable fashion, textiles and technology between SME partners in India and the UK.
The programme nurtures international cooperation, shares sustainable practice, and supports the cultural, social, and environmental values of the fashion and textiles sector in both countries.
The first phase of the programme in India supported six partnerships between India and UK enterprises. Through an exhibition currently showing at the British Council's offices in Delhi, visitors can discover the development of new materials, applications and technology that the teams have been working on over the last six months.
