About Sound and Music Commission 2025

We are looking for six composers or music creators based in the UK and ODA countries (official development assistance countries) to co-create a new work for radio to be broadcast in autumn 2025 with partner radio stations.

Three UK-based composers and three composers from ODA countries (full list below) will be selected to form collaboration pairs. The composers will decide how best to create aspects of the final commissioned works. Each composer will be paid a £1500 commission fee.

We're working with Sound and Music to offer this opportunity. Sound and Music have a long-standing partnership and weekly show with experimental radio station Resonance FM (UK) and will showcase this exciting project on the station.

Sound and Music will champion the partnership, artists, new commissions and their learning from the project at relevant music conferences, festivals and their networks. They will work with the artists and their supporting organisations in the partner countries to take a similar approach and champion the value of new music as a powerful tool to shape and explore the collective experience of the modern world.

The ODA countries involved are: Algeria, Argentina, Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Colombia, Egypt, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Myanmar, Nepal, Nigeria, Occupied Palestinian Territories, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, South Africa, Sudan, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, Venezuela and Vietnam.
